I’ve Been Thinking Quite a Lot About death!!!

I’ve been thinking quite a lot about death!
Well, not death, but what comes after.
The decomposing matter, it hardly lasts a year…
But the legacy it leaves in the soil,
well with the right seeds, that tree could grow to be,
A thousand! Maybe more…
But boring underneath…
Is the fungus feeding…
Feasting with the story’s other side.
Squeezing roots dry…
Seething slowly…

Some say it’s awful,
But like legacies, even old trees topple.

Future’s widely attended though,
it’s a who’s-who Hamilton opening night,
of hungry maggots and mites,
who also think quite a lot about death,
and the life it leaves behind.
